At the Lodge
The Lodge forms part of the Nylsvlei Floodplain.
The Unique Nyl Floodplain is the largest inland floodplain in South Africa, it extends from Modimolle (Krankop) Mountain near Nylstroom tin the South to Potgeitersrus some 60 KM further North reaching 16000 hectares when fully inundated. The variety of underlying geological formations a support a unique biodiversity of plant and animal communities. Typical bushveld savanna surrounds the grassveld floodplain.
Paradise Lodge falls within this floodplain making it an ideal base for birding at the Lodge and in the area.
Enjoy the bushveld either on foot, Mountain bike or in game viewing vehicles and spot game and birds.

Paradise Lodge boasts a heated pool (by solar panels) that overlooks the veld. The Lapa that is situated next to the Pool is an ideal way to relax and to watch the birds and game that come to a water hole close by. DSTV is available in the Lapa for sporting events. |

The boma is a great way to relax in front of an open fire whilst you braai your steaks, wors etc. |
| Games Room |
Paradise Lodge has a games room equipped with a free play pool table, table tennis and darts. Chess and playing cards are available at reception if you so desire. |
Things to do in the area
Paradise Lodge is in the Waterburg region of Limpopo and has a variety of different things to do if you do not fancy sitting, relaxing at the Lodge. Facilities on offer include:
Nyslvley Nature Reserve Set in the bushveld similar to that of Paradise Lodge, the 4000 hectare reserve has 70 species of mammals, 58 species of reptiles and 365 recorded bird species of which 104 are water birds, 87 of them breeding. Eight red data listed species breed on the floodplain. The reserve was listed as a RAMSAR site, an internationally important habitat for waterfowl in July 1998.
Open daily 06h00 - 18h00 every day of the year, visitors can walk or ride bikes on the good road system. There are also 5 hides that overlook almost permanent water.
| Doorndraaidam |
Set in 7000 hectares the reserve has fishing facilities on its 395-hectare dam. Game and bird life and hiking trails. Water sports are also available on the dam, please enquire if you are interested as no equipment is supplied at the dam. |
| Horse Riding |
Take a ride in the veld on horse back, there are a couple of different stables in the area to enjoy this experience. |
| Quad biking & 4 X 4 |
There are a number of different routes to take in the area, details on request. |
| Golf |
The local golf course is about 5km away and allows non members along with members of different courses to take a round or two. |
| Game Drives |
Visit a variety of different lodges that offer game drives for day visitors including a 12000 hectare reserve stocking the big 5. |

Experience crocodiles close up at a farm, open daily to the public |
| Makapans Valley |
The 3 million year old valley is the only place in the world where such an extended and complete record of hominid occupation has been observed |
